District heating networks make a significant contribution to the efficient use of energy resources and are to be expanded at an accelerated pace.
The approximately 350 companies in Germany that are expanding and maintaining the district heating network cannot even begin to meet the demand. The annual growth rates of over 9% can only be achieved through higher productivity with consistent or higher quality.
The most important component in network expansion are plastic jacket pipes (KMR), which require a great deal of manual effort on the construction site to prepare them for connection. With a partially automated joint preparation, we want to halve the time currently required for preparation. This increases productivity to the same extent and allows savings in the total construction volume for Germany of up to €3 million per year.

With our device for partially automated joint preparation of plastic jacket pipes, we would like to achieve annual savings potentials of at least €5,000 per company. We would like to develop these together with the Professorship for Forming Production Processes at the TU Dresden.
