Work Based Organizing (WBO)—organizing aligned with specific work activities—is particularly relevant today. It helps companies respond flexibly and adaptively to intensified value creation conditions and transformation challenges, such as digitalization, the shortage of skilled labor, increasing psychosocial stress, and new forms of work.

In this project, we aim to work with our scientific partners to identify tasks and handover areas that our specialists perceive as too complex, contradictory, or overwhelming. In the next step, organization, technology, and skills will be evaluated and restructured to make non-value-added components leaner and more efficient. Specifically, we intend to achieve this in engineering through AI assistants. Such an AI assistant could support CAD design by highlighting dependencies or optimization potential. Another could assist with drawing reviews. We also plan to evaluate and adapt the handover area between engineering and production according to WBO criteria, while consistently designing the production process in the new building with a focus on the future.
