With the successful completion of the 3DHyBeBe innovation project (funding code 03LB3043B), Grötschel GmbH has reached another milestone in the development of automated manufacturing solutions for carbon fiber-based reinforcement systems. The interdisciplinary project combines high-tech components, digital process chains, and application-oriented research – and underscores our role as a development partner for pioneering technologies in the construction industry.
In the course of the project, a series of highly specialized components for fully automated reinforcement production were developed – including a yarn creel, a redundant yarn impregnation system, a deposition tool, a robot-guided binding pliers, and a Beckhoff control for process integration. The goal was to make the production of carbon fiber-based reinforcement elements efficient, scalable, and digitally connectable.
Together with our project partners Johne & Groß GmbH and the Institute for Construction Materials at TU Dresden, a data-driven end-to-end process was also created, which can already be integrated into the design phase by architects and structural engineers. Rhinoceros 3D in combination with Grasshopper 3D serve as the central interface – an important basis for continuous, digital construction.
The project results will be presented to the international expert community in June 2025 at the AUTEX – World Conference on Textile Materials. The complete final report is available free of charge via the TIB-Universitätsbibliothek.
Our special thanks go to our partners IfB Dresden and Johne & Groß GmbH for the excellent cooperation – as well as to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) for the project funding.
